Reading Habits Book Tag

I thought I’d do a book tag. It was a split between doing this one or doing the newbie tag, but I’ve already done the newbie tag on YouTube so I thought I’d go for this one.

I got the idea from Emily at The Wicked Pages who tagged everyone who read her post. It looked like fun so I thought I’d join in and a good way for you all to get to know me a bit more. I’d love to see your tags too.

Also I tag anyone who reads this and wants to join in!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

No specific place. I can read anywhere at home as long as I can concentrate. I prefer to read where it’s quiet or by the window when it’s sunny.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

At the moment I use a random postcard I got for free from a restaurant.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I can stop anywhere, whether it be four pages or one hundred thirty two. Sometimes mid chapter, but sometimes I stop myself at the end of a chapter if I’m not sure I’m ready to start another. I should really get into the habit of reading a certain amount of pages a day though!

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Sometimes, especially if it’s my lunch break at work and I only have a certain amount of time to read. Also if I get really into a story, I don’t want to put it down, so I’ll multitask a little with eating and reading.

Multitasking: music or TV while reading?

I like it to be quiet while reading, but I do like instrumental/classical music in the background, makes a scene more dramatic. Plus I end up relating a song to a book if I listen to it while reading which is kinda cool.

One book at a time or several at once?

I read one book at a time, but sometimes I’ll start a new one when I’m reading another. I just end up putting the first book on hold until I’ve finished the new one.

Reading at home or everywhere?

I can read anywhere, in a car, on transport, in a cafe and so on.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

In my head.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I try hard not to break the spines, because I like to keep a book looking brand new but sometimes it’s just impossible.

Do you write in your books?

Nope, no writing in books here. Sometimes I make notes on Kindle if I’m really loving a book.

Readabits Questions:

When do you find yourself reading?

I like reading at lunch time and in the evening, but I don’t particularly stick to any time.

What is your best setting to read in?

I really love reading on holiday, in a nice little historical cottage in the countryside in the middle of no where. Sometimes holiday rentals become part of the book I’m reading and I feel like I’m really there.

I also love reading in the city, in a coffee shop with a latte and a piece of cake. (When we’re not on lockdown)

What do you do first, read or watch?

Always read first. Watching a movie/tv series is a massive spoiler and I like to see the character in my mind first before associating with an actor. I’m currently reading the Divergence series, and then I’m going to watch the movies.

What form do you prefer? Audiobook, E-Book, or Physical?

I prefer physical and e-books, I’ll read either but I’ve never listened to audiobooks before. I should try that some time.

Do you have a unique habit when you read?

Not that I’m aware of. I like a good cup of tea!

Do book series have to match?

Nah, it’s convenient if they do and more aesthetically pleasing, but it’s more important what’s inside the book.

If you read this post and want to do it too, I tag you.

  1. Great post! I’m also a instrumental music listener when reading – I don’t know how anyone could watch TV, it would be too distracting haha!
